Working in the legal profession for over 40 years in multiple roles gives me a unique insight into all aspects of non-contentious legal work. Qualifying as a solicitor in 1984 was only the beginning of a diverse career which has included qualifying as a notary public in 1991; holding the office of clerk to the general commissioner of income tax for 10 years; receiving a masters degree covering welfare law, public and international law and the renewable obligations in the electricity industry; teaching notarial practice at the University of Cambridge and at University College, London (UCL). In recent years my work migrated towards the specialist areas of corporate and non-for profit structures and governance, leading me to qualify as a chartered company secretary.
I now work for in Leeds for a large international law firm, working with a team of lawyers acting for national clients with large property portfolios.
I maintain my notary practise in Barnsley. My office in Barnsley town centre is appointment only as I am usually in Leeds (or at home during the Covid lockdowns).
